This is the start of a journey to share my passions for Early Childhood Education, motherhood, life as a military spouse, and understanding child psychology.
Once a student determined to work with animals, those thoughts and dreams quickly changed when my husband and I began growing our family. I wanted to know how my children were developing and why so differently from each other, and what I could do as a parent to best advocate for the well-being of my children. That quickly morphed in to understanding child psychology as my sons began showing signs of ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder), anxiety, and ODD (Oppositional Defiant Disorder). Once diagnosed with ADHD and trauma-based anxiety, it became a passion to educate myself on positive guidance techniques and strategies to best help my boys, as well as other children I teach.
My goal with this new adventure is to share my knowledge and experiences with others who may be struggling with special needs children, wish to learn about positive parenting strategies, the child brain, and how to teach using developmentally appropriate practices based on research.
I hold a M.Ed. in Elementary Education, CDA (Child Development Associate) Credential, and am certified to teach Positive Discipline to Parents. My education does not outweigh the experience gained working in the early childhood field, surrounded by amazing leaders and mentors, who have helped me grow in confidence, experience, and education.
This adventure could not be possible without the loving support of my husband, Brandon. You are my biggest fan and greatest supporter, alongside our Heavenly Father. Thank you for the sacrifices you continue to make everyday to support our family and my unending desire to advocate for positive education and parenting.
